Asymptotic Behavior of Iwasawa and Cholesky Iterations
We extend, in the context of a connected real semisimple Lie group, some results on the QR iteration and the Cholesky iteration of a nonsingular matrix. A group theoretic understanding of the abstract mechanisms of the iterations is obtained.
متن کاملAsymptotic Efficiencies of the MLE Based on Bivariate Record Values from Bivariate Normal Distribution
Abstract. Maximum likelihood (ML) estimation based on bivariate record data is considered as the general inference problem. Assume that the process of observing k records is repeated m times, independently. The asymptotic properties including consistency and asymptotic normality of the Maximum Likelihood (ML) estimates of parameters of the underlying distribution is then established, when m is ...
متن کاملUniform Asymptotic Expansions of Multiple Scattering Iterations
Although every implementation of a recent high frequency multiple scattering solver has displayed a frequency independent operation count, its numerical analysis yet remains as a challenging open problem. This is, in part, due to the absence of detailed information on the uniform asymptotic expansions of multiple scattering iterations. Here we address precisely this issue for a collection of co...
متن کاملTesting Independence for Bivariate Current Status Data
This paper develops a nonparametric procedure for testing marginal independence based on bivariate current status data. Asymptotic properties of the proposed tests are derived and their finite sample performance is studied via simulations. The method is applied to analyze data from a community-based study of cardiovascular epidemiology in Taiwan.
متن کاملComparing preference orders: Asymptotic independence
A decision maker is presented with two preference orders over n objects and chooses the one which is “closer” to his own preference order. We consider several plausible comparison rules that the decision maker might employ. We show that when n is large and the pair of orders to be compared randomly realizes, different comparison rules lead to statistically almost independent choices. Thus, two ...
